Amazon Just Moved Prime Day to June. Here's What You Should Stop Buying Right Now.

Amazon just confirmed Prime Day 2026 is happening in June. Not July. Not "summer, sometime." June — which means it's weeks away, not months.
If you've been eyeing anything in the categories that Prime Day actually moves, this changes your math.
What to Stop Buying Right Now
These categories consistently hit their lowest prices of the year on Prime Day. If you're shopping for any of these right now, wait.
TVs. Prime Day is the single best time of year to buy a TV outside of Black Friday. Amazon pushes its own Fire TV lineup at steep discounts and third-party brands compete to match. If a TV isn't urgent, it can wait a few weeks.
Laptops. Major brands — Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer — participate heavily in Prime Day. Refurb and open-box pricing also craters. Unless you need one today, hold.
Amazon's own devices. Echo, Ring, Kindle, Fire tablets, Eero — these hit their lowest prices of the year during Prime Day without exception. Do not buy these right now. Amazon controls the pricing and they use their own event to clear inventory.
Headphones and earbuds. Sony, Bose, Jabra, and the rest of the premium audio market reliably participate. A $350 pair of headphones has a meaningful chance of hitting $220 in a few weeks.
Smart home devices. Thermostats, smart plugs, security cameras, robot vacuums — all consistent Prime Day categories. Comparable discounts to Black Friday.
What's Fine to Buy Now
Not everything waits for Prime Day, and some things genuinely won't see better pricing in June.
Outdoor furniture and grills. Memorial Day was the peak window for outdoor categories. Prime Day isn't typically a big event for patio sets or grills — retailers have already moved this inventory. If you passed on a deal over the weekend, the next meaningful discount on outdoor furniture is probably Labor Day.
Mattresses. Mattress brands run their own sales on their own schedules. Prime Day has some mattress deals, but nothing more consistent than what was available this past weekend. If you found a good price this week, it's not obviously going to be beaten in June.
Anything you need before June. This is the obvious one. If you need it now, the theoretical savings of waiting aren't savings at all — they're a tradeoff.
Clearance from Memorial Day. Day-after-holiday markdown on outdoor and summer inventory is happening right now and won't repeat. If there's a specific patio item or seasonal product you want, that window is this week, not Prime Day.
What We Don't Know Yet
Amazon confirmed June but hasn't announced specific dates. That matters because "June" covers a lot of ground — early June is very different from late June for back-to-school timing and competing retailer response.
What we do know: competing retailers (Best Buy, Walmart, Target) will run counter-events that roughly match Prime Day timing. You won't have to be a Prime member to find good deals in that window. Watch for those announcements as the date gets closer.
The move to June is the story. Plan accordingly.
