Apple Just Announced New Products. That Means Deals on Everything They Replaced.
June 10, 2026
Apple held WWDC two days ago. New operating systems, new AI features, new hardware capability announcements. The keynote is already old news.
What isn't old news: the discount window that opens in the week after a major Apple event, and most people don't know to look for it.
Why Prices Drop After WWDC
The pattern is consistent across years. When Apple announces new software capabilities and signals new hardware direction, a few things happen simultaneously:
Retailers get ahead of anticipated fall hardware by clearing current inventory. Best Buy, Target, and Amazon adjust pricing on current-gen Macs, iPads, and accessories within days of a major Apple event — not because the products changed, but because they're managing inventory against what's coming in September.
The Apple Refurbished Store refreshes. Apple's refurb store is the best-value place to buy Apple hardware, period — same warranty as new, often $100–200 lower on Macs and iPads. Post-WWDC and post-September are the two windows when the refurb store inventory turns over most actively.
Certified resellers drop prices. B&H Photo, Adorama, and MacSales (OWC) compete on post-announcement pricing. These are legitimate, Apple-authorized sellers — not gray market. The discounts are smaller than refurb but selection is usually broader.
The secondhand market temporarily softens. People who were waiting to see what WWDC announced before deciding whether to upgrade often list their current hardware in the days after the keynote. eBay and Facebook Marketplace see a short-term increase in supply of current-gen Apple gear, which nudges prices down.
What's Worth Buying Right Now
MacBook Air (M3): The M3 MacBook Air is not going to be replaced by anything announced at WWDC — WWDC is a software event. But retailer clearance pricing on M3 models is running 8–12% below list at several retailers right now as they position inventory ahead of fall. If you were already planning to buy, this is the window.
AirPods Pro (2nd gen): These don't get replaced at WWDC, but they do get discounted when Apple announces new features that pair with them. The post-WWDC pattern for AirPods is consistent: $30–50 off at Best Buy and Amazon within the week following the keynote. The deals are live right now.
iPad (base model, latest gen): Retailer clearance on the base iPad has been running for two weeks. Post-WWDC, those discounts tend to deepen slightly as retailers align with Apple's fall planning cycle.
Certified Pre-Owned Mac (via Apple Refurb): Check the Apple Refurbished Store directly. The inventory changes daily. Macs with the previous chip generation are often $150–250 below their new-product equivalent and come with the full Apple warranty.
How to Track This in Dealery
Add the specific item to your Dealery watchlist now. The post-WWDC price window is typically 7–14 days — deals tend to be sharpest in the first week and then normalize as fall approaches. Set the watchlist, let the tracker notify you when a target price hits, and don't pay full price during the one window of the year when you don't have to.
